(i found this in my...British Lit. II notebook, because apparently I was constantly bored...)
I never signed up for all this,
the highschool drama that's attached
itself to every breath I take
like a third unnecessary lung.
Oh please, no apologies.
You're grown as hell sweetheart
and if you don't know what I'm talking about,
it's probably you.
Acknowledge all the faults.
Who ever said love was unconditional?
Use them and leave them
and come out the victim.
The path less traveled
is strewn with blood and hearts,
shattered pieces of the lives
of broken lovers.
Walking on the glass from
the mirror you shattered
when you didn't recognize your eyes
gives you seven years bad luck
that started ten years ago
when you took a wrong turn,
unknowingly staining the sheets
from pristine white to nonexistant.
(I know this has been neglected! I'm sorry! maybe I'll review "Orphan", which I saw last night. we'll see.)

Watchmen
I got the awesome opportunity to see Watchmen at the theater last night, thanks to my wonderful friend Cassie. We arrived two hours early to wait in line, because we knew this one would be big. And it was.
I don't even know where to start. This was definitely an actors movie. There was some really, and I mean really good acting in this movie, and some really good talent too. Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Morgan, Jackie Earle Haley, Carla Gugino...there aren't words to describe how much I loved (and in Jeffrey Morgan's case, hated) their characters. There was just the right amount of action, as well, and these scenes were very entertaining and well orchestrated. The film makers even found a way to make the beginning credits a part of the story, as they were integrated into flashbacks.
Of course, I came into this movie with a blank slate, not knowing anything about the comics, so the story was new to me, and it was very well developed, taking place in an alternate world in which Nixon was elected for President many terms in a row, and the world is on the brink of nuclear war. Most of the film was narrated by Rorschach, and a bit was narrated by Dr. Manhattan, and while sometimes I don't like narration because it sounds forced, that was not the case here. Since the movie starts off in sort of the mid story, the voice of Rorschach fills us in on the important stuff, and Rorschach himself was pretty awesome. As were all of the other costumed heroes. Though it did come to my attention that none of them, except Dr. Manhattan of course, had super powers. At all. Except maybe super strength, and the ability to kick ass really hard. But that's neither here nor there.
And to give it a little something extra, there was a bit of romance thrown in. Yes, romance. Not to mention some pretty nice sex scenes - or at least one long one that was pretty graphic. In a good way. And Dr. Manhattan didn't like to...well, you'll see.
So, overall, a pretty awesome movie, where the acting and cohesive storyline made this alternate universe believable. And it wasn't stilted by any un-witty one liners and horrible or prolonged dialogue, which I say makes it a win win situation. I didn't know what I went in there expecting, but I came out completely satisfied, and entertained, and maybe wanting to be a superhero myself. Maybe. I would've actually paid money to see it, and I can't say that about a lot of movies. Definitely worth the sore ass I got for sitting in that seat for almost three hours. Yes, three hours.
Go see it! It hits theaters in the U.S. on March 6. I leave you with my favorite:

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is supposed to be a sort of prequel to the other two Underworld movies. When I headed out for the screening last night, I have to say that I was kind of excited to see it. I was curious as to how they would go about it.
Well, first of all, the effects were great. The lycans looked the same as in the other two movies, and so did the vampires. The fight scenes were really good and engaging. Overall the movie was pretty much action packed, while the story line was just ok. Not really disappointing, because I did enjoy the movie, but you already knew the basic story before you came in, so you can't expect it to give you any sort of twists.
In the non-action packed parts I got a bit bored, I have to admit. The beginning part was good, though, with the explanation of Lucian's birth, and the love story between Lucian and Sonja seemed a bit brief, but that was only because it wasn't the central part of the story, so I was releaved that it wasn't overly romantic and gushy and sickening. I was glad to see Michael Sheen playing Lucian again. Another wonderful surprise was the appearance of the character Raze, played by Kevin Grevioux, who appears in the first Underworld.
Now, of course, you spent the whole time hoping that Sonja and Lucian will get away, and hoping that Viktor would die (I love Viktor, though!), even though you know what's going to happen to them, but that still doesn't stop you! Which was a great thing, I think, because it showed that the audience could get so involved in the story that they could forget that they already knew the ending.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans opens in theaters today.
